Zdeněk Grygera (born May 14, 1980) is a Czech Republic football (soccer) player who, as of 2008, is playing for Juventus. He is an attacking right back also adept at centre back.
Grygera played for the Czech Republic national football team at 2004 UEFA European Football Championship and at the Football World Cup 2006 in Germany.
Grygera was expected to leave Ajax during the summer of 2006 for an Italian club but because of the 2006 Serie A scandal, the deal fell through and Grygera kept playing for Ajax allowing him to leave Ajax in 2007 on a free transfer due to the Bosman ruling.
In August 2006 there were rumours linking Grygera with a move to Tottenham Hotspur F.C., although he responded to the speculation by insisting he does not see his future in the FA Premier League.
On 10 January 2007, it was confirmed by Ajax's technical director, Martin Van Geel, that Grygera would be moving to Juventus in a Bosman transfer when his contract with Ajax expires in June 2007. Grygera had already expressed his delight over the possibility of playing with one of his Czech compatriots, Pavel Nedvěd. Grygera has become an important part of the Juventus first team and during the 2007/2008 season made 24 appearances, scoring one goal. Grygera has been a very influential part of Juventus' pre-season, and played very well throughout the Emirates Cup, the TIM Trophy Tournament. He had an assist in the 7th minute of Juventus' UEFA Champions League match versus Artmedia Bratislava, before suffering an injury in the 16th minute. Juventus went on to win the first leg 4-0.
