Juan Pablo Sorín biography



Juan Pablo Sorín (born May 5, 1976) is a former Argentina Association football. Juan Pablo Sorín was born in Buenos Aires. Juan Pablo Sorín is a much-travelled player, having spent time in Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Italy, France and Germany. Juan Pablo Sorín was captain of the Argentine team in the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Juan Pablo Sorín is a versatile left wing-back who can play anywhere on the left wing. Juan Pablo Sorín has an eccentric style of play and, despite being played in defensive roles, is often found up front attacking, using Juan Pablo Sorín technical and heading skill to great effect.

Career

Juampi, as Juan Pablo Sorín is known in Argentina, began Juan Pablo Sorín career playing in the lower-reaches of the Argentine league for Argentinos Juniors, a Buenos Aires football club. Juan Pablo Sorín broke into the first team in 1994 and in 1995–96 after Juan Pablo Sorín captain (football) the Argentina national under-20 football team Side who won the 1995 FIFA World Youth Championship played in Qatar Juan Pablo Sorín was bought by Juventus of Italy but Juan Pablo Sorín did not fit in an already established first team so soon returned to Argentina.

Sorín played for Club Atlético River Plate in the second half of 1996, and revived Juan Pablo Sorín career, winning three Primera División Argentina championships (1996, 1997 and 1999), one Primera División Argentina championship (1997), one Copa Libertadores de América in 1996 and a Supercopa Sudamericana in 1997.

Juan Pablo Sorín was transferred to Cruzeiro Esporte Clube of Brazil in 2000. Juan Pablo Sorín played for two and a half seasons, winning the Copa do Brasil and becoming one of the most cherished players by the fans up to this day.

After an injury filled season and a half at S.S. Lazio in Italy, Sorin was acquired by FC Barcelona. Juan Pablo Sorín made Juan Pablo Sorín La Liga debut on February 9, 2003. The match was between FC Barcelona and Athletic Club de Bilbao and ended 2-2.

After a successful half a season Juan Pablo Sorín left the Nou Camp in the summer of 2003 and moved to France to play for Paris Saint-Germain FC, where Juan Pablo Sorín won the Coupe de France.

Sorín returned to Cruzeiro Esporte Clube in 2004 but was later transferred to Villarreal Club de Fútbol of Spain. Sorín enjoyed a good deal of success with Villarreal, helping them reach the semi-finals of the Champions League where they were beaten by Arsenal of England.

Sorín was reportedly the subject of interest from English Premiership sides Portsmouth F.C., Bolton Wanderers F.C. and Newcastle United F.C. during the summer of 2006, but ended up signing for Hamburger SV. After two years with the German club and only 24 appearances because of injury, Sorín left when Juan Pablo Sorín contract expired on July 15, 2008.
Sorín returned again to Cruzeiro on August 29, 2008. Juan Pablo Sorín will play for the club during the rest of the 2008 season, with the option to renew for two more years.

Sorín has written a book called Grandes Chicos to raise funds for the building of a school and a children's hospital in Argentina.

Juan Pablo Sorín announced Juan Pablo Sorín retirement on July 28, 2009.

International career

Sorín was part of the Argentina national football team squad in the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea/Japan. The team played three matches against Nigeria national football team, England national football team and Sweden national football team. However the team failed badly, losing to England and failing to reach the second round of the tournament.

The Argentine squad has since been rebuilt by José Pekerman and Sorín was made captain of Juan Pablo Sorín country for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. Sorín played an important role in the World Cup for Argentina as an effective attacking full back. Argentina qualified for the second round after taking care of the Ivory Coast team, 2-1 and crushing Serbia & Montenegro national football team 6-0. Argentina went on to the quarter-finals where they lost to hosts Germany national football team (who would finish third over all) in a penalty-shoot out.
