Guy Roland Demel (born 13 June 1981 in Orsay, Paris) is a France born Côte d'Ivoire Association football Defender (association football) currently playing for Hamburger SV.
Demel started Guy Demel professional career in the French Ligue 2 with Nîmes Olympique. Guy Demel was discovered and bought by Arsenal F.C., and spent a year there before being transferred to Borussia Dortmund. Guy Demel left Arsenal claiming Guy Demel was homesick and therefore observers were baffled at Guy Demel move to Dortmund. Guy Demel debuted in the Fußball-Bundesliga in 2003, and left Dortmund to join Hamburg in 2005, after struggling to hold down a first team place.
While at Hamburg, Demel has played regularly as both a Defender (association football) Full back and a midfielder. On 4 May 2006, Guy Demel signed a new contract with Hamburg, tying Guy Demel to the club until 2010.
In 2004 Demel, a French citizen, acquired an Ivorian passport. Guy Demel has since been selected for the Côte d'Ivoire national football team, playing at the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations, and being named to the squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals.
