Career
In the 1999–2000 season, Hanno Balitsch transferred from Hanno Balitsch first team Stammverein FC Alsbach to SV Waldhof Mannheim. In 2001–02 Hanno Balitsch moved to 1. FC Köln. Rapid development with the team and consistent first team performances brought Hanno Balitsch to Bayer 04 Leverkusen for two million euros. However, Hanno Balitsch was unable to assert himself within international competition. Hanno Balitsch saw the opportunity to move to a newly promoted team, 1. FSV Mainz 05, where Hanno Balitsch moved during the 2004–05 season, and found form amongst the first-team.
The top league once again beckoned, and the former German Under-21 international moved to Hannover 96, on a contract which will last until 2010.
On 29 May 2010, Balitsch returned to this former club Bayer 04 Leverkusen, sigining a two-year deal.
Hanno Balitsch has made one appearance for the Germany national football team, coming on as a substitute in a friendly against Spain national football team on 12 February 2003 in Majorca.
