Paulo César Fonseca do Nascimento, aka Tinga (born January 13, 1978 in Porto Alegre), is a Brazilian Football (soccer) Football (soccer) positions defensive-midfielder, currently with BV Borussia Dortmund of the Bundesliga (football). Tinga nickname Tinga is derived from the name of the Restinga quarter in Porto Alegre, where Tinga grew up.
Club career
Tinga started playing professionally with Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense, which loaned Tinga to Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas and J. League's Kawasaki Frontale.
In January 2004, following a wages dispute, Tinga left Grêmio and signed with Sporting Clube de Portugal, for the rest of that season and two more. However, Tinga would only serve as third-choice in the Lisbon side, although Tinga netted in a 2-0 home win over SK Rapid Wien, in the club's UEFA Cup 2004-05.
Tinga was sold to Sport Club Internacional in December 2004,being instrumental in the side's Copa Libertadores success in Copa Libertadores 2006, as Tinga scored against São Paulo Futebol Clube in a 4-3 aggregate win. Following these displays, Tinga signed a three-year contract with Borussia Dortmund in Germany.On August 26, Tinga assist (football) and was yellow card (sports) in Tinga first game, a 3-1 win at VfB Stuttgart going on to only miss four German Bundesliga matches combined in Tinga first two seasons, adding eight goals.
International career
After a five-year absence, Tinga was recalled to Brazil national football team by new manager Dunga, for a friendly against Switzerland national football team, gaining Tinga third cap (sport) on November 15, 2006.
