Tobias Rau biography
Tobias Rau (born December 31, 1981 in Braunschweig, Lower Saxony) is a Germany soccer who currently plays as a defender (football) for DSC Arminia Bielefeld. He played seven times for Germany national football team, all in 2003, which included a goal in a 4-1 routing of Canada national football team.
After debuting as a professional in the lower leagues with hometown Eintracht Braunschweig and moving to German Bundesliga VfL Wolfsburg (2001-03), Rau caught the attention of league powerhouse FC Bayern Munich. However, several serious injuries and stiff competition from France Willy Sagnol and Bixente Lizarazu restricted his chances to 13 league appearances (with a further 7 matches for the FC Bayern Munich II).
On July 2005, Rau moved to Arminia Bielefeld, where he also would only be used as a defensive backup.
