Simon Rolfes (born January 21, 1982 in Ibbenbüren) is a Germany association football who plays for Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Rolfes wears the number 6 for national and club play.
Career
Club career
Rolfes started his senior career at SV Werder Bremen after progressing through their academy. He made exactly 100 league appearances for the club and managed to notch 18 goals from his defensive midfield position. He spent a season on loan at SSV Reutlingen from 2002 to 2003, making 13 appearances. In 2004 he moved to Alemannia Aachen and played 28 times in his one season there. In 2005, Bayer 04 Leverkusen signed him and since then he has made just short of 110 appearances and scored 19 goals.
International career
He made his international debut for the Germany national football team in a friendly against Denmark national football team on March 28, 2007.
He was part of the Germany national football team that finished as runners up at UEFA Euro 2008. He started in the quarter final against Portugal national football team in Basel which Germany won 3-2, and started the semi-final against Turkey national football team, also in Basel and also won by a score of 3-2.
