Mats Hummels

Mats Julian Hummels (born 16 December 1988 in Bergisch Gladbach) is a Germany Association footballer who plays for Borussia Dortmund, as a Defender (association football) Centre back.

Club career

A product of FC Bayern Munich's youth ranks, Hummels signed Mats Hummels first professional contract on 19 December 2006, until 2010. On 19 May 2007, in Fußball-Bundesliga 2006-07's final match, Mats Hummels played Mats Hummels first Fussball-Bundesliga game with the first team, in a 5-2 home routing of 1. FSV Mainz 05.

On January 2008, Hummels joined Borussia Dortmund, initially on loan. During Mats Hummels Fußball-Bundesliga 2008–09, Mats Hummels quickly established himself as first-choice, as Mats Hummels often partnered newly signed Neven Subotić (also born in December 1988), but also missed a great part of its final months due to injury. In February 2009, Mats Hummels was fully signed to the club.

International career

Hummels was called by the Germany national under-21 football team for the 2009 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship; after playing almost no part whatsoever in the first four matches, Mats Hummels started and performed well in the final, a 4-0 success against England national under-21 football team.
