Club career
San Lorenzo
Morel Rodríguez started Claudio Morel Rodríguez career in Argentina with Club Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro in the Primera División Argentina. In the 2000-01 in Argentine football Claudio Morel Rodríguez won the 2000-01 in Argentine football Torneo Clausura ("Closing" Tournament) with San Lorenzo, and in 2001 Claudio Morel Rodríguez helped them win the Copa Mercosur, beating Brazilian club Clube de Regatas do Flamengo in the final.
Claudio Morel Rodríguez scored Claudio Morel Rodríguez first goal for the club on 5 October 2002 in a 2-1 win over Newell's Old Boys at the Estadio Pedro Bidegain. Claudio Morel Rodríguez won the Copa Sudamericana 2002 Copa Sudamericana with the club, beating Atlético Nacional of Columbia 4-0 in the final in November 2002.
Claudio Morel Rodríguez scored one more goal for San Lorenzo also in the 2002–03 in Argentine football, and also against Newell's Old Boys, in a 2-1 defeat on 2 May 2003 at the Estadio Newell's Old Boys.
Boca Juniors
Claudio Morel Rodríguez moved to Boca Juniors in 2004 and made Claudio Morel Rodríguez Boca debut in a 0–0 draw against Club Atlético Lanús on 15 August 2004. Claudio Morel Rodríguez first trophy with Boca came in 2004 when the club won the Copa Sudamericana 2004, by beating Bolivian club Club Bolívar 2-1 over two legs in the final. In 2005 Claudio Morel Rodríguez won the Recopa Sudamericana 2005 and the Copa Sudamericana 2005 as well as winning both the 2005-2006 in Argentine football Torneo Apertura ("Opening" Tournament) and the 2005-2006 in Argentine football Torneo Clausura ("Closing" Tournament) in the 2005-2006 in Argentine football. Claudio Morel Rodríguez won the Recopa Sudamericana 2006 with Boca, beating São Paulo Futebol Clube 4-3 on aggregate.
In December 2007 Claudio Morel Rodríguez played in the 2007 FIFA Club World Cup in Japan with Boca Juniors, helping them to the runners-up spot, losing to Italian club, A.C. Milan 4-2 in the 2007 FIFA Club World Cup Final.
Claudio Morel Rodríguez was runner-up behind fellow Paraguayan Salvador Cabañas in the 2007 South American Footballer of the Year award. Claudio Morel Rodríguez was also selected in the "Ideal Eleven of South America in 2007". In August 2008 Claudio Morel Rodríguez helped Boca win the Recopa Sudamericana 2008, beating fellow Argentine club Arsenal de Sarandí 5-3 on aggregate. In December 2008 Claudio Morel Rodríguez was chosen as the Paraguayan footballer of the year by the press.
International career
Claudio Morel Rodríguez made Claudio Morel Rodríguez international debut in 1999. Claudio Morel Rodríguez played in the 2002 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, and has played in the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification (CONMEBOL) for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
