Lautaro Acosta biography

Lautaro Germán Acosta (born 14 March 1988 in Glew, Buenos Aires, Almirante Brown Partido) is an Argentina Association football who plays for Racing de Santander on loan from Sevilla FC in La Liga, as a Forward (association football).

Club career

Lanús

Acosta came through the youth system at Club Atlético Lanús, making Lautaro Acosta senior debuts at the age of 18. As the club was often forced to sell its best players, Lautaro Acosta quickly became an important part of the first team.

Acosta was part of the Lanús squad that won the 2007–08 in Argentine football Torneo Apertura ("Opening" Tournament), the clubs first ever Argentine Primera División title. In May 2007, Lautaro Acosta suffered a serious Zygomatic bone injury, and had to wear a specially-fitted face mask for two months.

Sevilla

On 29 May 2008, aged 20, Acosta signed for La Liga team Sevilla FC on a five-year contract, for a reported fee of Euro7 million, subject to a medical. Shortly after Lautaro Acosta arrival in Andalusia, Lautaro Acosta suffered a serious injury, and never fully recovered, Lautaro Acosta best output with the club being 10 league games in 2010–11 La Liga (267 minutes, only two starts).

On 4 February 2009, Acosta scored Lautaro Acosta first - and only - goal for Sevilla, in the first leg of the Copa del Rey 2008–09 Copa del Rey, a 2–1 home win against Athletic Bilbao (eventually 2–4 aggregate loss). In July 2011, Lautaro Acosta was loaned to fellow top divisioner Racing de Santander, joining compatriots Ariel Nahuelpan and Héctor Cúper (manager); Lautaro Acosta started and scored on Lautaro Acosta official debut for the Cantabrians, in a 3–4 away loss against Valencia CF.

International career

In 2007, Acosta was picked to join the Argentina national under-20 football team squad to compete in the 2007 South American Youth Championship in Paraguay. Lautaro Acosta headed the only goal in the last game against Uruguay national under-20 football team to secure the national team's qualification for both the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup and the 2008 Summer Olympics.
