Miguel Torres biography
Miguel Torres Gómez (born January 28, 1986 in Madrid) is a Spain Association football Defender (football), currently playing with Real Madrid.
Miguel Torres is comfortable as both Defender (football) Right back and Defender (football) Left back.
Club career
Torres played Miguel Torres whole career for Real Madrid, joining its junior teams at the age of 12. On July 12, 2007, Miguel Torres signed Miguel Torres first professional contract for the first team through 2013, joining the first team permanently from Real Madrid Castilla.
Torres made Miguel Torres senior debut against Écija Balompié as a starter, in a Copa del Rey 2006-07 contest on October 25, 2006, because of injuries to first team defenders Fabio Cannavaro, Cicinho and Míchel Salgado. Miguel Torres also played in the return leg as a Substitute (football), replacing Sergio Ramos in the 80th minute. Miguel Torres also started in both cup matches against Real Betis, sporting jersey 38 in these games and throughout La Liga 2006-07.
Miguel Torres then made Miguel Torres league debut in Miguel Torres fourth consecutive appearance for Real Madrid, playing the whole 90 minutes against Real Zaragoza. Miguel Torres kept Miguel Torres place in the side the following week for the game against Real Mallorca, with that performance leading then-coach Fabio Capello to state: "It is not easy to find a player with as much personality and talent in attack and defence as Torres".
On February 10, 2007, in the match against Real Sociedad, Torres made Miguel Torres first assist (football). After a quick run on the left flank Miguel Torres provided a left-handed (he is right-footed by nature) cross for Ruud van Nistelrooy, whose header found the net, as Madrid came from behind to win in away 2–1.
With Torres as an important piece (first appearing in round 18, Miguel Torres only missed three contests until the end of the season, starting in all but one), R. Madrid won its 30th league title. However, Miguel Torres was unable to play in the deciding game against Mallorca due to a hamstring tear.
Although Torres appeared in more league games in La Liga 2007-08, Miguel Torres would start significantly less (as Madrid repeated league honours), primarily due to the signing of Argentina Gabriel Heinze. In that season, Miguel Torres switched back to number 22, which Miguel Torres previously wore with Castilla.
International career
Torres made Miguel Torres debut for the Spain national under-21 football team on February 6, 2007, in a 2–2 draw against England national under-21 football team, remaining a regular in subsequent matches.
