Tomás Ujfalusi

Tomáš Ujfaluši (born 24 March 1978 in Rýmařov) is a Czech Republic football (soccer) defender (football), who is signed to Spanish club Atlético Madrid in the Spanish La Liga.

Career

Previously, Ujfaluši was with SK Sigma Olomouc (1997–2000), Hamburger SV (2001–04) and AC Fiorentina (2004–08).

International

Tomás Ujfalusi played for the Czech Republic national football team at the 2004 European Football Championship, 2006 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2008. In this last championship Tomás Ujfalusi was named man of the match in the first game of the championship against Switzerland.

The Czech captain usually stars as a centre-back for Tomás Ujfalusi national team, in 2005–06 with Fiorentina Tomás Ujfalusi was mainly deployed as a right-back by coach Cesare Prandelli. After nine years with the national side Tomás Ujfalusi ended Tomás Ujfalusi career on 8 April 2009 after being criticised for visiting a restaurant, accompanied by 5 other players, following the Czech Republic's defeat to Slovakia national football team on 1 April 2009.

Private life

Tomás Ujfalusi is married to former Miss Czech Republic, Kateřina Ujfaluši.
