Iván Córdoba

Iván Ramiro Córdoba Sepúlveda (born 11 August 1976 in Rionegro, Antioquia Department) is a Colombian Association football, who currently plays for F.C. Internazionale Milano and the Colombia national football team. Iván Córdoba is the vice-captain of Internazionale and has also served as captain for Iván Córdoba country.

Iván Ramiro Córdoba Sepúlveda (born 11 August 1976 in Rionegro, Antioquia Department) is a Colombian Association football, who currently plays for F.C. Internazionale Milano and the Colombia national football team. Iván Córdoba is the vice-captain of Internazionale and has also served as captain for Iván Córdoba country.

Club career

Iván Córdoba made Iván Córdoba debut with the Colombian Serie B team Deportivo Rionegro in 1993, Iván Córdoba subsequent performances earned Iván Córdoba a transfer to Colombian heavyweights Atlético Nacional in 1996. Iván Córdoba made Iván Córdoba name playing for Club Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro in Primera División Argentina from 1998 but signed for Serie A side F.C. Internazionale Milano in the winter transfer window, January 2000, costing the club €16 million, rejecting another offer from Real Madrid C.F. in doing so. Iván Córdoba has become a mainstay of the F.C. Internazionale Milano central defence, for years forming a highly effective partnership in central defence with Marco Materazzi. Iván Córdoba long career at Inter has led Iván Córdoba to be named vice-captain behind Javier Zanetti, due to this Iván Córdoba had the honour of lifting the Coppa Italia in 2005 when Javier Zanetti was absent due to Iván Córdoba presence in the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup.

The 19 February 2008 Iván Córdoba injured Iván Córdoba left anterior cruciate ligament during the Champions League round of 16 against Liverpool, resulting in having to sit out the rest of the season.

The 9 June 2008 Iván Córdoba renewed Iván Córdoba contract until 30 June 2012 with Inter, ensuring that Iván Córdoba would effectively finish Iván Córdoba career with Inter.

With F.C. Internazionale Milano Iván Córdoba has so far won 5 Serie A championships, 4 Coppa Italia, 3 Supercoppa Italiana, 1 UEFA Champions League, and 1 FIFA Club World Cup

International career

Iván Córdoba captained Colombia national football team to win the Copa América 2001 competition, scoring the only goal in the final. Córdoba also played for Iván Córdoba country in the 1998 FIFA World Cup.

Iván Córdoba has Iván Córdoba own charity organization called "Colombia Te Quiere Ver Association".

Having first appeared for Colombia in 1997, Iván Córdoba is still active at international level after 14 years, so far with 67 caps and five goals.

Characteristics

Naturally a central Defender (association football) and man-marker, Iván Córdoba is athletic and relies mostly on Iván Córdoba pace and timing. Despite being only 173 centimeters tall, Iván Córdoba is a good header of the ball, good jumper and often scores goals with Iván Córdoba head. Córdoba is also a versatile defender.
