Biography
Reid was born in Bristol and attended Millfield school. He joined Plymouth Argyle F.C. early in the 2005-06 season, following trials with Manchester United F.C. and Crystal Palace F.C.. He soon impressed, playing for the youth team, with his quick feet, strong upper body, and regular goals. Reid gave up the chance of a professional cricket career with Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, having played for their second XI, to pursue his career with Argyle and was rewarded with a one-year professional contract in February 2006, and his debut in the final game of the season against Ipswich Town.
On October 5, 2006 he joined Kidderminster Harriers on a one month loan and scored on his debut for them two days later. After returning after a months to loan, Reid played in both FA Cup 3rd round ties against Peterborough United F.C., as well as making a couple of league substitute appearances, before going out on loan for the rest of the 2006/07 season to Rochdale F.C. on January 25 2007. However, Rochdale ended his loan after a month, with Plymouth manager Ian Holloway reported as saying "They did not want him there any more. It is internal and I deal with it". Reid was suspended by Holloway for two weeks on his return to Plymouth.
On March 22, 2007, Reid joined Torquay United F.C. on loan until the end of the season.
Reuben played in Argyles first two Football League Cup games of the Plymouth Argyle F.C. season 2007-08 season, before being loaned to Wycombe Wanderers F.C. on 31 Aug 2007 for the remainder of the season . On 15th September 2007, Reuben came on as a substitute to make his Wycombe debut against Macclesfield, and scored on the 89th minute. Reid returned to Argyle in December only to be told by new Plymouth Argyle manager Paul Sturrock that he would be released at the end of the season. He joined Brentford F.C. on a three-month loan deal on January 31 2008.
Reid signed for Rotherham United on 22nd July 2008, after impressing on trial during the 2008/09 pre-season. He made an immediate impact to the squad, scoring the winnig goal in the first game of the season. Reuben became an instant hit with the millers faithful, scoring both the equaliser and winning penalty against fiercest rivals Sheffield Wednesday, knocking them out of the cup. In the next round of the Carling Cup, Reid scored the winning penalty again, this time to knock Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. out of the Cup.
