Biography
In the 2003/04 season, Sawyer had a loan spell with Weymouth F.C., but made only one appearance. In summer 2004, he joined Exeter City, initially on a season long loan, which was then extended for a second season.
Sawyer returned from his loan spell at the end of 2005-06 in English football season, and signed a new three-year deal in November 2006. He soon forced his way into the first-team during the 2006-07 in English football season, making his league debut for Argyle on 28 November 2006, in a home match against Luton Town F.C..
Sawyer was named Argyle's Young Player of the Season in 2007.
In July 2007, Sawyer signed a new three-year deal deal, tying him to the club until 2010. Sawyer went on to be a regular starter for the Pilgrims throughout the 2007-08 in English football season, scoring his first goal for Argyle, against Colchester United F.C., on 4 March 2008.
