Dénes Rósa biography
Dénes Rósa (born April 7, 1977 in Budapest) is a Hungary international football (soccer) signed to Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. of the Football League Championship.
Playing career
Rósa played for a number of clubs in his homeland of Hungary, ending up at Ferencvárosi TC where he won the league and cup double in 2004. He played in six European ties (both UEFA Cup and UEFA Champions League qualifiers) during his spell here, scoring 6 times.
He moved on loan to English side Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. in January 2006 on a six month trial contract, where he linked up with former Ferencvárosi TC teammate Gábor Gyepes. He made his debut for the club on January 2, 2006 in a 0-2 loss at Coventry City F.C. and went on to make 9 league appearances in the rest of the campaign, scoring twice.
His performances won him a permamanent move at the end of the season and he signed a three-year deal. However, the surprise departure of Glenn Hoddle and arrival of Mick McCarthy as manager in the summer saw him left out of first team contention afterward. McCarthy admitted that Rosa may struggle to figure in his formation.
The midfielder was loaned to Football League One Cheltenham Town for a month in Spring 2007 but returned to his parent club after, who put him on the transfer list. He made a brief substitute appearance for Wolves in the Football League Cup during the following season, but despite a strong goalscoring record in reserve games, has never featured in the first team since nor been issued him with a squad number for the current season.
