Adam Rooney
Adam Rooney (born 21 April 1988 in Dublin) is an Republic of Ireland association football, who plays as a striker for Inverness Caledonian Thistle F.C. having signed from Stoke City F.C. on 15th August 2008. Rooney's older brother Mark Rooney plays in the Football League of Ireland with Shelbourne F.C..

Playing career
Rooney signed for Stoke City F.C. in the summer of 2005, after having trials at Bolton Wanderers F.C., West Ham United F.C., Nottingham Forest F.C. and Reading F.C.. In his first season at Stoke, Rooney made his debut at academy and reserves levels, before making his first team debut as a second-half substitute against Tamworth in the FA Cup. Rooney scored his first goal for Stoke against Reading F.C. on 17 April 2006. In only his second full start for Stoke City, he scored a hat-trick against already relegated Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. in the final fixture of the 2005–06 in English football season to become Stoke City's youngest ever hat-trick Football (Soccer) scorer (Sir Stanley Matthews was the previous holder). On 14 May 2007,Republic of Ireland national football team 3–0 win over Bulgaria national football team in the elite qualifying phase of the 2007 UEFA European Under-19 Football Championships.
On 16 March 2007, it was announced that Rooney would join Yeovil Town F.C. on loan for a month. The loan was later extended until the end of the season. However he returned to Stoke on 9 May 2007, after making 1 start and 2 substitute appearances for Yeovil. In August 2007 he joined Football League Two side Chesterfield F.C. on a four month loan.
On 19 July 2008, it was announced that Rooney had joined Scottish Premier League side Inverness Caledonian Thistle F.C. for a week long trial. He travelled with the squad on their pre-season tour of Denmark and returned to train with the Highland side in August, before the club announced his signing on a three-year deal.
