Michael Owen Johnson born (July 4, 1973 in Nottingham, England) is a Jamaican Association football . He currently plays for Notts County F.C. after signing a 1 year contract after being released by Derby County F.C.. Although born in England, he is a full Jamaica national football team and has played several times for the Jamaican national team.

Michael Johnson biography


Michael Owen Johnson born (July 4, 1973 in Nottingham, England) is a Jamaican Association football . He currently plays for Notts County F.C. after signing a 1 year contract after being released by Derby County F.C.. Although born in England, he is a full Jamaica national football team and has played several times for the Jamaican national team.

Previous clubs include Notts County F.C. and Birmingham City, where he played in the 2001 in football (soccer) Football League Cup 2001 Football League Cup Final against Liverpool F.C.. He joined Derby in August 2003 after playing 1 season in the FA Premier League with Birmingham.

He was a fans favourite at Birmingham, where he picked up the nickname "Magic", for his often immense performances. During his time at Birmingham he was known as a quick, clever centre-back. "Magic" was known for his incredible leap, which scored him a number of goals for Birmingham.

He remains popular with the fans of Derby County for his whole hearted approach and dedication to the team. He also is the sexiest Jamaican footballer according to GQ magazine(October 2001.)

On 20 September 2007 Johnson joined Sheffield Wednesday on an emergency loan deal. He made his debut on the 22nd and made an impact as The Owls picked up their first points of the season (which was 9 games old) in a 1-0 win against Hull City at Hillsborough.

On 26 December 2007 Johnson returned to the Derby County team to face Liverpool coming on as a first half substitute.His return was greeted by Derby fans with chants of Theres only one Michael Johnson.

On 29 February 2008 Johnson returned to the team where he started his career Notts County on loan for the remainder of the season and, on May 6 2008 it was announced he had signed a one year permanent deal with the club following the completion of his Derby contract on July 1 2008.
