Souleymane Diawara (born December 24, 1978 in Dakar, Senegal) is a Senegal Football (soccer) who plays as a defender (football) for Girondins de Bordeaux as well as for the Senegal national football team
He has played for Le Havre AC and FC Sochaux-Montbéliard. Diawara was dropped from the Senegal squad in August 2006, ahead of their friendly with Côte d'Ivoire national football team, due to a breach of discipline.
Diawara signed for Charlton Athletic F.C. on a four-year deal for £3.712m on 30 August 2006. He also has a French passport. He joined Girondins de Bordeaux from Charlton Athletic in August 2007 for an initial fee of €3.9m which could rise by €1.2m.
