Stephen Quinn biography

Stephen Quinn (born April 4, 1986 in Clondalkin) is a professional football (soccer) from the Republic of Ireland. He currently plays as a midfielder for Sheffield United in the England Football League Championship.

Stephen Quinn is the younger brother of fellow Blades midfielder Alan Quinn and the older brother of Sheffield United Youth team midfielder and captain Keith Quinn. In MATCH! magazine it was stated he was going to be the next big thing from Sheffield United.

Club career

Quinn started his footballing career with St Patrick's Athletic F.C. in the Football League of Ireland.

He signed for Sheffield United in 2005, and made his first team debut for the Blades in a Football League Cup win at Shrewsbury Town on September 20 2005. Quinn spent some of the 2005-06 season on loan with Milton Keynes Dons and Rotherham United respectively. Stephen became a fan favourite at Rotherham United; his consistent excellent performances helping to keep them in League 1. Many Rotherham United's fans would love to see 'Quinny' back at Millmoor, maybe on loan for the 2007/08 season.

Stephen recently made his Premiership debut, against Charlton Athletic F.C., he impressed all who saw the game and could have scored his first premiership goal within the first 40 seconds of the game. In his second appearance, a match against Aston Villa at Bramall Lane, he scored at the fifty minute mark to draw even with the Birmingham club. He has made excellent progress this season especially with having to deal with losing his mother at such a young age this October.

International career

Stephen was called up by the Republic of Ireland national football team for the first time as part of the senior squad to face San Marino national football team in the Euro 2008 qualifier at the Serravalle Stadium on Wednesday, February 4, 2007.

Although he did not play, he has been included in the Under-21 squad for the game against Holland national football team in Venlo on March 27.
