Kyle Naughton (born 11 November 1988 in Sheffield, England) is an England association football, who plays for Tottenham Hotspur F.C.. Naughton normally operates as a right full back, but can also play in a more advanced role on the right of midfield.

Career

Sheffield United

Naughton is a product of Sheffield United F.C. centre of excellence and academy, having been there since the age of seven. Kyle Naughton attended an England U15s training camp during the 2004/05 season, and over the years has become a regular in the Academy and reserve teams. Kyle Naughton captained Kyle Naughton club's academy side to the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup in the 2006–07 season.

Kyle Naughton was signed by Gretna F.C. on loan in January 2008, and made Kyle Naughton league debut for Gretna against Rangers F.C. on 16 January 2008. Kyle Naughton played regularly for the rest of the season at the troubled Scottish club who were placed into administration during Kyle Naughton tenure there. Despite this Naughton continued for Gretna as the Blades agreed to cover insurance payments needed to allow Kyle Naughton to play. Naughton played eighteen times for the club but was unable to help them avoid relegation.

Naughton made Kyle Naughton first team debut for the Blades the following season, coming on as a second half substitute in the first round of the League Cup against Port Vale F.C. in August 2008. In Kyle Naughton second substitute appearance for the club Kyle Naughton netted the winning goal in a 2-1 League Cup success over Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town.

Naughton then went on to make Kyle Naughton first start for Sheffield United in their 2-1 victory over Watford FC on 27 September 2008, gaining the man of the match award. From that point Kyle Naughton cemented Kyle Naughton place in the starting eleven and was virtually ever present for the rest of the season. Kyle Naughton became first choice at right back in the process but also made a couple of appearances in midfield and finished the season playing at left back to cover for the injured Gary Naysmith. Kyle Naughton successful season was rewarded when Kyle Naughton was voted Young Player of the Year by the United supporters club and was runner up to Matthew Kilgallon in the senior Player of the Year award. Kyle Naughton went on to add another award when Kyle Naughton was included in the PFA Championship Team of the Year. In July of the 2009 close season United confirmed they had accepted an undisclosed bid from Everton for Naughton.

Tottenham Hotspur

Naughton signed for Tottenham Hotspur F.C. on 22 July 2009 along with fellow Sheffield United F.C. player Kyle Walker.

International career

In November 2008, after only eleven league appearances, Naughton was called up to the England national under-21 football team team for the friendly against the Czech Republic national under-21 football team at Bramall Lane. Kyle Naughton duly made Kyle Naughton England debut, coming on as a 60th minute substitute in a 2-0 victory.
