Tony Hibbert biography
Anthony James "Tony" Hibbert (born February 20, 1981 in Liverpool, brought up in Huyton, Merseyside) is an England football (soccer) who currently plays as a defender (football) for Everton F.C..
Hibbert made his debut for Everton in their 2-0 win against West Ham United F.C. in 2001 . He was a member of the Everton youth team that won the FA Youth Cup in 1998 . Although originally a Midfielder, Hibbert has adapted his game and is now a regular at right-back for the Toffees. In July 2005 he signed a 4 year deal with his hometown club.
Many regard him as Everton's best tackler and has great pace although he is still yet to score for the club even though he has been a first team regular for several years. The ACTIM index in fact rated him the best English right back in the 2004/05 season but he still hasn't received an England call up.
Unfortunately, he missed the end of the 2005-06 in English football season with a hernia problem and his preparations for the 2006-07 in English football season were disrputed after he contracted Cryptosporidium, an illness contracted through infected water or food. The majority of the season was tampered with injuries for Hibbert however he is expected to make his 150th Everton start against West Ham United.
