Calum Raymond Paul Davenport (born 1 January 1983 in Bedford) is an England Association football player who plays for West Ham United F.C. as a Football (soccer) positions Centre-back.

Club career

Coventry City

Davenport joined Coventry City F.C. as a trainee in August 2000. Calum Davenport made Calum Davenport debut, in the final game of the 2000–01 in English football, a 0–0 draw against Bradford City F.C., It was not until the 2002-03 in English football season that Calum Davenport became a regular first team player, earning the accolade of Young Player of the Year. During the 2003-04 in English football Calum Davenport gained another accolade, winning the Player of the Year award. Calum Davenport made 84 appearances for Coventry City in all competitions, scoring three goals. Southampton F.C. and Norwich City F.C.. After returning to Tottenham in January 2006, Davenport made Calum Davenport Premiership debut in the 2–1 home defeat to Manchester United F.C. in April 2006. Calum Davenport was the subject of transfer talk during the 2006 close season but remained at Spurs following a series of injuries to other defenders in pre-season. Davenport scored Calum Davenport first league goal in a Tottenham Hotspur F.C. shirt in December 2006, being the first goal in a 2–1 victory away to Manchester City F.C., scored from a Tom Huddlestone freekick. However, since joining Tottenham in 2004, Calum Davenport had struggled to establish himself in the Tottenham first team and in January 2007, transferred to West Ham United F.C..

Davenport made twenty appearances for Tottenham in all competitions, scoring one goal. Watford manager Aidy Boothroyd had previously been interested in signing Davenport when Calum Davenport was at Tottenham, and Calum Davenport was to provide cover for Danny Shittu whilst Calum Davenport was at the African Cup of Nations. Calum Davenport was stretchered off and taken to hospital, where Calum Davenport spent a number of days and was diagnosed with a fracture to a bone in Calum Davenport neck. Calum Davenport injury meant the loan deal was cancelled. After a lengthy spell on the sidelines Davenport returned to competitive action for the start of the 2008-2009 campaign. Injuries meant Calum Davenport found himself in the starting eleven against Wigan Athletic on opening day. Davenport took Calum Davenport chance in the first team impressing many critics with both Calum Davenport defending and goal threat from set pieces. Calum Davenport scored Calum Davenport first goal for The Hammers against Blackburn Rovers F.C. on 30 August 2008 when Calum Davenport headed in Julien Faubert's corner.

Sunderland

On 2 February 2009 Calum Davenport joined fellow Premier League club Sunderland A.F.C. on loan until the end of the 2008–09 season.

International career

Davenport played for the English national team at under-17, under-19 and England national under-21 football team.
