Robbie Threlfall

Robert Richard "Robbie" Threlfall (born 28 November 1988) is an English association football, who plays in the left-back position. On 27 May 2010, Robbie Threlfall signed a permanent contract with Bradford City A.F.C. after being released by Premier League club Liverpool F.C..

Robert Richard "Robbie" Threlfall (born 28 November 1988) is an English association football, who plays in the left-back position. On 27 May 2010, Robbie Threlfall signed a permanent contract with Bradford City A.F.C. after being released by Premier League club Liverpool F.C..

Club career

Born in Liverpool, Threlfall began Robbie Threlfall career moving through the Liverpool F.C. youth ranks, training at Liverpool F.C. Reserves and Academy The Academy and eventually graduating to Melwood in the 2006-07 in English football season. Threlfall has won Liverpool's FA Youth Cup twice; first in 2006, then again in the following season's competition.

Robbie Threlfall made Robbie Threlfall first senior appearance for the club against Wrexham A.F.C in a pre-season friendly. Since then Robbie has been a regular in the Liverpool Reserves, also making Robbie Threlfall England national football team Under-19 debut against Poland national football team in Bournemouth on 6 February 2007. Threlfall played a major role in the 2007 FA Youth Cup final, firstly scoring a first-leg own-goal which put rivals Manchester United ahead. Robbie Threlfall scored in the second-leg to level the score and finished a crucial penalty kick helping the Merseyside club retain the title.

Robbie Threlfall spent much of the 2007–08 season on loan at Hereford United F.C. but was only able to play 12 games as a result of an injury sustained in the FA Cup against Hartlepool. Threlfall re-signed for the Bulls on loan for six months, at the start of the 2008–09 season. Robbie Threlfall started the first three league games of the season, as well as a Football League Cup match, before breaking Robbie Threlfall foot in early September.

Threlfall later joined Stockport County F.C. on loan for a month on 6 February 2009, consequently making two league appearances.

Threlfall joined Football League Two side Northampton Town F.C. on loan for a month on 21 August 2009, and made Robbie Threlfall debut the next day coming on as an injury time sub for Ryan Gilligan in the Cobblers 2–0 win over A.F.C. Bournemouth. Robbie Threlfall first start came in 2–2 draw against Wycombe Wanderers F.C. in the Football League Trophy, Northampton won 3–0 on penalties.

In October 2009, Robbie Threlfall was set to make another loan move this time to Darlington F.C. but had a change of heart the following day.

In February 2010, Robbie Threlfall joined Bradford City A.F.C. on loan to become new manager Peter Taylor (footballer born 1953)'s first signing, and scored on Robbie Threlfall debut on 23 February in a match against Rochdale F.C.. Which Bradford won 3–1, with Matthew Clarke and Gareth Evans scoring the other two. Robbie Threlfall second career goal came against Port Vale F.C. three games later. On 22 March, it was announced that Robbie Threlfall loan deal had been extended until the end of the season.

On 26 May, Liverpool announced they would be releasing Threlfall, along with goalkeeper Chris Oldfield.
