Adam James Eckersley (born September 7, 1985 in Salford, England) is an England football (soccer) who plays as a defender (football). Under contract at Manchester United F.C., he is currently on loan at Barnsley F.C..
Eckersley was born in Manchester and went to Walkden High School. He signed for Manchester United as a junior player in 2002 and was a member of the United reserve team that won the quadruple in 2005. He made his senior team debut in the Carling Cup on October 26, 2005, starting in the 4-1 home win over Barnet F.C] where he played as left-back. Eckersley then went on loan to the Belgian Second Division club R. Antwerp F.C., in January 2006, to gain further first team match experience. In August 2006 he was loaned out to Brøndby IF, who had recently signed former Manchester United reserve team coach René Meulensteen as manager. He was injured during his stay at Brøndby IF and only played six matches for the club, before the loan ended on December 31, 2006. He joined Barnsley F.C. on January 5 2007 on loan until the end of the season.
