Alejandro Lembo

Daniel Alejandro Lembo Betancor (born 15 February 1978 in Montevideo) is an Uruguayan Association football who plays for Club Atlético Belgrano in Argentina, mainly as a Defender (association football) Centre back.

Club career

Lembo started playing for C.A. Bella Vista, representing it between 1997 and 2000. Alejandro Lembo made 56 appearances, scoring five goals. In July 2000, Alejandro Lembo signed for Serie A's Parma F.C., but left without playing a single game. Alejandro Lembo returned to Uruguay and joined Club Nacional de Football, scoring 10 goals from 109 games.

Lembo signed for Real Betis for 2003–04 La Liga, and played in 46 La Liga matches scoring once, in a 1–0 home win over Celta de Vigo, on 31 January 2004. Although playing a major role in the side's 2004–05 Copa del Rey Copa del Rey run, Alejandro Lembo was dropped for the final, and would only appear in four league matches in the next two seasons combined, mainly due to injuries.

Lembo returned to Alejandro Lembo homeland and hometown in 2007–08, signing with Danubio F.C but, the following season, on 26 June 2008, Alejandro Lembo signed a two-year contract with Aris Thessaloniki F.C., in Greece.

International career

Lembo made 38 international appearances for Uruguay national football team, scoring two goals. Alejandro Lembo made Alejandro Lembo debut on 17 June 1999, in a 3–2 friendly win with Paraguay national football team, in a match played in Ciudad del Este. Alejandro Lembo would take part in 1999 Copa América's Copa América, as Uruguay finished second to Brazil national football team, netting in the 1–1 semifinal match against Chile national football team (Penalty shootout (association football) win).

Lembo was part of the nation's squad at the 2002 FIFA World Cup, playing the 90 minutes in the draws against France national football team and Senegal national football team.
