Diego Godín

Diego Roberto Godín Leal (born 16 February 1986 in Rosario, Uruguay) is an Uruguayan Association football currently playing with Villarreal CF, as a Defender (football) Centre back.

A fast and composed defender, Diego Godín combines physical presence with an ability to play the ball comfortably from behind.

Club career

Godín started Diego Godín professional career with C.A. Cerro, moving at 20 to Primera División Uruguaya powerhouse Club Nacional de Football. There, Diego Godín quickly became Captain (football) due to Diego Godín maturity and professionalism.

In August 2007, Diego Godín signed a five-year deal with La Liga side Villarreal CF,scoring in just Diego Godín second game, a 2-3 loss at CA Osasuna, on October 7, and participating with 24 matches in the club's best-league placement ever (La Liga 2007-08).

International career

Aged just 19, Godín made Diego Godín debut for Uruguay national football team, in a friendly defeat against Mexico national football team, in Guadalajara. Diego Godín represented the nation at the Copa América 2007.
