Sergio González Soriano, Sergio (born November 10, 1976 in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Catalonia), is a Spanish people football (soccer) player, currently with La Liga Deportivo de La Coruña. He is a hard-working central midfielder adept at both defence and playmaking.
Barcelona-born Sergio played four seasons in the La Liga as an RCD Espanyol player, with a total of 110 matches.
Looking for greater challenges, he accepted a move to Deportivo de La Coruña in the summer of 2001. In his seasons in Galicia (Spain), he was an undisputed started, amassing more than 300 overall appearances (just two league matches missed in his first three years).
Sergio was first called to the Spain national football team in March 2001, for a 2002 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein national football team and a friendly with France national football team. He was part of the nation's final stages squad, mainly used as a substitute (football).
