Scott Crabbe

Scott Crabbe (born 12 August 1968 in Edinburgh) is a retired Scotland footballer who last plied his trade for East Fife F.C. in the Scottish Football League Third Division of the Scottish Football League. He retired on 1 June 2007 after playing just 10 times for the Fifers.

A veteran of many clubs, Crabbe started his career with Heart of Midlothian F.C. and made his debut for the club shortly after the team famously blew the Championship and Scottish Cup. A big Hearts fan, he started as a midfielder but the switch to striker transformed his career. He joined Hearts from Tynecastle F.C. in 1986 and made his league debut against Clydebank F.C in January 1987.

He was a regular at the Gorgie club for a couple of year forming a partnership with club legend John Grant Robertson. Honours came his way and he became a first-choice striker for the Scotland Under-21's side. The youth team did very well in those early 90's under Craig Brown (football), and not surprisingly Crabbe managed to pick up the Scottish PFA Young Player of the year.

However he decided to leave Hearts in 1992 to join Dundee United F.C. who still had Jim McLean as their manager. His time at Tannadice though was not the best of times. He was injured for their 1994 Scottish Cup win and in 5 years at the club played about 60 matches scoring just 6 goals which was hardly prolific.

In 1997 he joined Falkirk F.C., and this came at just the right time for the player who played in the team's famous Scottish Cup run. He managed an appearance against Kilmarnock F.C. in the final which Falkirk lost 1-0 thanks to a goal by Paul Wright (footballer) to bring the 1997 trophy back to Rugby Park.

He was at Falkirk for a couple more year before he became a journeyman playing for a host of clubs without realising the potential that he had at such an early age.

He played for Livingston F.C., being part of the team to win the Scottish Football League First Division in 2000-01 in Scottish football. He would play no part in the SPL though and he moved to Ayr United F.C. after a brief spell at Raith Rovers F.C. on loan. Once again he made the right decision to move to a so-called 'wee' team and was part of the team to make the run to the Scottish Cup Semi-Final against Celtic F.C. which Ayr lost 3-0. Crabbe himself put out former club Dundee United in the Quarter-Final and was able to make an appearance at the famous Hampden Park.

He then went on to play for Alloa Athletic F.C., Albion Rovers F.C. (Scotland) and Raith Rovers again, where he was released in the summer of 2006, subsequently joining East Fife.
