Ángel David

Ángel Domingo López Ruano, simply Ángel (born March 10, 1981 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), is a Spain Association football currently playing for Villarreal CF.

An offensive Defender (football) Right back, Ángel David can also operate as a midfielder.

Club career

After first appearing professionally with hometown UD Las Palmas, playing 64 (32 each) La Liga contests from 2000-2002, Ángel made a name for himself as a stamina-filled Fullback (football) at Celta de Vigo,joining the Galicia (Spain) outfit in the 2003 January transfer window. Ángel David appeared in 15 league during the second part of La Liga 2002-03, as Celta achieved a UEFA Champions League 2003-04 qualification spot. However, with Ángel as first-choice, they would be relegated in La Liga 2003-04.

On the last day of La Liga 2007-08's summer transfer deadline, Ángel joined Villarreal CF. During the season where the team dubbed the Yellow Submarine achieved a best-ever runner-up league position, Ángel David split right-back duties with veteran Javi Venta, a situation which again befell in La Liga 2008-09 (22 matches for Venta, 21 for López).

International career

Ángel made Ángel David international debut for the Spain national football team in a friendly 0-1 defeat against Romania national football team on November 15, 2006, in a match played in Cádiz.
