Guillermo Luis Franco Farcuason (born on November 3, 1976 in Corrientes, Argentina) is an international Argentine-Mexican football (soccer) striker, who currently plays for Spain club Villarreal CF in La Liga.

Biography

Guille Franco began his career with Primera División Argentina Club Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro, playing with the team from 1996 to 2002. Franco then joined Primera División de México CF Monterrey in the middle of 2002, and made his debut during the 2002 Apertura. Franco was quite successful with the Rayados, and led the league in scoring during the 2004 Apertura with 15 goals in 16 games. Winning a championship in 2003 and achieving runner-up position twice in 2004 and 2005 , Franco won himself the "idol" status amongst followers of "Rayados" connecting with the followers of CF Monterrey soccer fans.

Franco became a naturalized Mexican citizen after settling in Mexico in 2002. He has since played for the Mexico national football team and has amassed ten caps, scoring two goals for the national team. In his first game for the Mexican national team, Franco scored a goal and gave two assists against Guatemala national football team.

In 2006 he signed for La Liga Villarreal CF, where he plays alongside Latin American star Juan Román Riquelme.

He scored a very important goal in a victory 1-0 against Celta at May 6, 2007, that made that Villarreal qualifies to UEFA Cup.
