José Enrique Sánchez

José Enrique Sánchez Díaz aka José Enrique (born 23 January 1986 in Valencia, Spain, Spain) is a Spain Football (soccer) player who currently plays for Newcastle United F.C. of the English Premier League. His usual position is at Defender (football).

Career

Enrique started his footballing career at Levante UD where he spent a season on loan at Celta de Vigo. He was signed by Villarreal CF in 2006 after his eye-catching performances in this loan spell. On August 6 2007, it was confirmed that Newcastle United F.C] had signed him for a fee of £6.3m, beating off competition from Manchester City F.C. and Liverpool F.C.. Enrique made his Newcastle United debut on 29th August 2007 against Barnsley F.C., in which he played the full 90 minutes and Newcastle won the match 2-0. While considered a mere warm up for the Left-back, his recovery pace and calm nature was duly noted.

His nickname is "The Bull", due to his tough style of defending. He is highly regarded in Spain and he is capped at international level for the Spanish U21 side.
