Antonio López Guerrero

Antonio López Guerrero (born 13 September 1981 in Benidorm, Alicante (province)) is a Spain Association football who currently plays for Atlético Madrid of the La Liga, mainly as a Defender (association football) Full back.

Club career

A product of Atlético Madrid's youth system, López first appeared for the main side in 2000–01 Segunda División, whilst the colchoneros were in the Segunda División, and contributed with 20 matches 2001–02 Segunda División for a La Liga return, after a two-year Wikt:hiatus.

Subsequently, Antonio López Guerrero was loaned for two seasons to fellow La Liga side CA Osasuna, where Antonio López Guerrero missed only five combined league games. During Antonio López Guerrero Navarre spell, López scored twice, in 2002–03 La Liga, most notably in a 1–0 home success against RCD Espanyol, on December 15, 2002.

In Antonio López Guerrero second spell with Atlético, López quickly gained first-choice status. However, during 2007–08 La Liga, Antonio López Guerrero lost Antonio López Guerrero position to Mariano Pernía, and would end serving more time at right-back, due to injuries to teammates Giourkas Seitaridis and Juan Valera Espín. When selected, Antonio López Guerrero was the side's undisputed Captain (association football).

On March 15, 2009, López scored the winner through a rare header, as Atlético came from behind 0–2 to beat Villarreal CF at home. After the coach change, with former club player Abel Resino taking over for Javier Aguirre, Antonio López Guerrero was made the starter, but an injury made Pernía finish 2008–09 La Liga in the starting XI.

Benefitting from a road accident to Pernía in the summer, López played most of 2009–10 La Liga; on January 2, 2010, again with Antonio López Guerrero head - but in the last-minute goal - Antonio López Guerrero scored against Sevilla FC at home to make it 2–1.

International career

López made Antonio López Guerrero debut with Spain national football team on March 30, 2005, in a 2006 FIFA World Cup qualification in Belgrade (Serbia and Montenegro national football team 0 – Spain 0). During the successful campaign, on October 12, Antonio López Guerrero scored Antonio López Guerrero first international goal, at San Marino national football team (6–0), hitting home from 25 metres in the first minute.

Supposed to backup Asier del Horno during the 2006 FIFA World Cup, López would not benefit from the Basque people's injury days before the tournament started, as Argentina-born Pernía (then at Getafe CF) would be promoted to first-choice. López would only appear against Saudi Arabia national football team in Germany.
