Luis Amaranto Perea Mosquera (born 30 January 1979 in Turbo, Colombia) is a Colombian Association football who plays for Atlético Madrid in the La Liga.

Gifted with incredible stamina and pace, the Defender (association football) Centre back can also be adapted at Defender (association football) Full back.

Club career

Perea began Luis Perea professional career with Independiente Medellín, moving in 2003 to Argentina with Boca Juniors, with whom Luis Perea won the Intercontinental Cup (football) in 2003.

In June 2004, Perea signed for Atlético Madrid, on a four-year deal, as another centre-back, Pablo Ibáñez, also arrived 2004–05 La Liga. Both were the starters as the colchoneros returned to the 2008–09 UEFA Champions League after a 12-year absence, with Perea appearing in 30 La Liga matches. After 2007–08 La Liga kicked off, Luis Perea received Luis Perea Spain passport.

After the signing of ACF Fiorentina's Tomáš Ujfaluši for 2008–09 La Liga, Perea saw some additional time as a right defender, but eventually lost that place to another newly-signed, Holland John Heitinga. From 2009–11, with the latter departed to Everton F.C., Luis Perea managed to appear in 56 league games for the club combined, with UEFA Europa League 2011–12 UEFA Europa League in 2010–11 La Liga after a seventh-place finish.

On 29 September 2011, following an Europa League appearance against Stade Rennais F.C., Perea became the foreign player with most official appearances for Atlético Madrid with 289, surpassing Argentine Jorge Griffa.

International career

A Colombia national football team since 10 September 2003, in a 0–4 loss in Bolivia national football team for the 2006 FIFA World Cup 2006 FIFA World Cup qualification (CONMEBOL), Perea appeared for the nation at the 2007 Copa América and 2011 Copa América tournaments.

Perea was named captain before the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification (CONMEBOL) against Bolivia in La Paz. Colombia went on to win 2-1, making Perea the first captain of Colombia to win a match in La Paz.
