Marco Marchionni (born 22 July 1980 in Monterotondo, Province of Rome) is an Italy football (soccer) right-Winger (football), who currently plays for ACF Fiorentina, having played for Juventus FC in the 2008/09 season.
Football career
Marco Marchionni began Marco Marchionni professional career with Empoli F.C in 1998, joined form Serie D team Monterotondo, only to leave the team for Parma in 2001. Marco Marchionni played little for two years, and was loaned to Italian club Piacenza Calcio for half a season in 2002-2003, in order to get more playing time and increase Marco Marchionni skills. Marco Marchionni performances were convincing that Marco Marchionni was recalled back to Parma F.C. and placed in the first team for season 2003-2004.
In 2003-2004, under Cesare Prandelli, who was renowned for Marco Marchionni affinity for young players, Marchionni blossomed under Marco Marchionni guidance. The following season was also a positive one, with 32 games played and 6 goals scored. The 2005-2006 season was by far Marchionni's best, Marco Marchionni gives great contribution to the team's gameplay, including many assists and many instances of "play-making". Marco Marchionni finished the season with 31 appearances and 4 goals. Marco Marchionni talent and relatively young age attracted the keen eyes of the Juventus F.C. scouts, and the team did not delay in signing Marco Marchionni from Parma. Marchionni joined Marco Marchionni new team on free transfer in June 2006.
Juventus
In 2006-2007, Marchionni is playing with Juventus F.C. in Serie B. Despite playing in Serie B, Marco Marchionni received another call-up to Italian national team in September 2006, where Marco Marchionni won Marco Marchionni 3rd cap.
During the 2007-2008 Serie A return season, Marco Marchionni second with Juventus, Marchionni suffered an injury filled season, keeping Marco Marchionni off the pitch for most of the season. Marco Marchionni only managed to start one game, but played a total of eleven league matches, scoring one goal.
During the pre-season to the 08-09 Serie A campaign, Marchionni was in excelent form playing in all of the friendly tournaments and matches. Marco Marchionni will be hoping to stay in stunning form, and keep injury free for this season's UEFA Champions League, Serie A, and Coppa Italia with Juventus.
In the 08-09 Serie A campaign, Marco Marchionni had been quickly introduced into the Juventus squad as the first choice winger Mauro Camoranesi was forced off the pitch due to injury problems. Marco Marchionni handled this brilliantly with a handful of great performances, including the match against A.S. Roma where Marco Marchionni scored a goal.
Fiorentina
On 6 July 2009 ACF Fiorentina agreed terms with Juventus to buy Marchionni, subject to personal terms.
On 15 July 2009, Marchionni signed a contract with ACF Fiorentina after having spent three years with Juventus F.C. Marco Marchionni was part of a swap plus cash deal that saw midfielder Felipe Melo go the other way to Juventus . Marchionni will join Cesare Prandelli, former coach at Parma, and former teammates Sébastien Frey, Marco Donadel, Alberto Gilardino and Adrian Mutu.
