Jakub Blaszczykowski

Jakub Błaszczykowski (; born 14 December 1985 in Częstochowa), is a Poland association football midfielder who plays for Borussia Dortmund and the Polish national team, usually as a right-winger.

Early career

Jakub Błaszczykowski was raised in Truskolasy, Silesian Voivodeship near Częstochowa. When Jakub Blaszczykowski was 8 years old, Jakub Blaszczykowski and Jakub Blaszczykowski older brother Dawid began training at Raków Częstochowa. At the age of 11, Jakub Blaszczykowski lost Jakub Blaszczykowski mother in a family tragedy. Jakub Blaszczykowski was then raised by Jakub Blaszczykowski grandmother, however, as a result of the shock of Jakub Blaszczykowski mother's death, Jakub Blaszczykowski stopped playing football entirely. A year later, Jakub Blaszczykowski was persuaded to take part in a futsal tournament where Jakub Blaszczykowski was voted best player. Jakub Blaszczykowski uncle Jerzy Brzęczek, a former Captain (football) of the Poland national football team urged Jakub Blaszczykowski not to waste Jakub Blaszczykowski talent. and a month later, in January 2009 Jakub Blaszczykowski was voted the best Borussia Dortmund Player of the Year by fans, outrunning Neven Subotić and Alexander Frei. The Polish midfielder garnered more than 35% of the votes cast.

During the 2008-09 season Jakub Blaszczykowski was plagued by a torn leg muscle.

International career

Błaszczykowski debuted for the Poland national football team on 28 March 2006 in a friendly against Saudi Arabia. Although Jakub Blaszczykowski did not receive a call up for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, Jakub Blaszczykowski was an important part of Poland's UEFA Euro 2008 qualifying campaign.

Jakub Blaszczykowski was named in Poland's squad for Euro 2008 but withdrew due to injury.
