Career
Twiss began his career as a trainee at Manchester United F.C. but failed to make the grade at the club and, after being loaned out to Sheffield United F.C., he was released having played just 2 cup games for Sir Alex Ferguson.
Snapped up by Port Vale F.C. on a free, Twiss failed to make a big impact on the club and after twenty-four appearances he was sold to then Football Conference club Leigh RMI in 2001. There, Twiss found himself at a more comfortable level and had a successful season at the club, before being signed by Chester City F.C. a year later after impressing in a 3-0 win for Leigh over Chester at Hilton Park the previous season.
He scored the SKY Conference 'Goal of the Season' during his spell at Chester City F.C. when on 16 December 2006, he scored direct from a corner against York City F.C. in the FA Trophy.
On May 4, 2004 he was signed by Morecambe. He was an instant success at the club, hitting twenty-two league goals in his first season at Christie Park, where he currently remains after signing a new three and a half year contract with Morecambe on 19 December 2006.
Twiss scored 14 goals in the 2006-07 in English football season before damaging medial ligaments in February. The 10 goals in the league has taken him to 43 goals in 111 Conference appearances. He did however make it back for the play-offs, and was part of the Morecambe side that won the Conference National Playoff Final 2007.
He helped Morecambe to survive in their first season in the Football League Two, as they finished 11th. They also reached the semi-final of the Johnstone's Paint trophy, where they were beaten by Grimsby Town F.C. 1–0 on aggregate after a goal from Paul Bolland at Christie Park. York City F.C. attempted to signed him in August 2008, but this ended as Twiss wanted to stay in the Lancashire area.
