Chedwyn Evans biography
Chedwyn Michael "Ched" Evans (born 28 December 1988 in Rhyl) is a Wales international Association football currently playing as a striker for Sheffield United F.C..
Club career
Manchester City
Evans began Chedwyn Evans playing career in Rhyl and was spotted by scout (sport) John Reardon (football scout). Ched spent several years scoring many goals at Chester City F.C.'s youth set-up before it folded. Chedwyn Evans scored the winning goal in the Nathan Fennah Memorial game at the Deva Stadium in Chester City's U12s' 1–0 win against Wigan Athletic F.C. U12s. Evans played and starred for Moss Valley Rovers in many summer tournaments in the North West. Manchester City F.C. signed him, on Reardon's advice, in 2002 following the collapse of Chester City's youth system. Contrary to some reports, Chedwyn Evans was never at Manchester United F.C.'s youth system on trial or otherwise.
In the 2006–07 season, Evans scored 16 goals in 23 starts at Academy level, and a further six in 10 starts in the Premier Reserve League.
In September 2007, Evans came off the bench to make Chedwyn Evans senior début in City’s 1-0 Football League Cup victory against Norwich City F.C.. The striker had scored a hat-trick for the reserves at Sunderland F.C. the week before and a brace against Bury F.C..
On 21 November, Evans moved to Norwich City on loan until 1 January 2008. Chedwyn Evans made Chedwyn Evans début for the Canaries the following week when Chedwyn Evans came on as a substitute in the 3–1 victory over Blackpool F.C.. Chedwyn Evans first goal for the club came just two minutes into Chedwyn Evans first start in the 2–1 victory over Plymouth Argyle F.C. on 4 December. Chedwyn Evans then scored the winning goal in Norwich's next game, a 1–0 win over Sheffield United F.C. at Carrow Road on 8 December. Evans returned to Manchester City after 1 January when the loan deal expired.
Initially, Norwich manager Glenn Roeder's attempts to extend the loan were refused, however, on 10 January, the club announced that Evans would return to Norwich on loan until 26 February, with Manchester City initially able to recall Chedwyn Evans after 6 February, however, after talks between the two clubs at the end of January 2008, it was announced that Evans would be staying with the Carrow Road club until the end of the Norwich City F.C. season 2007-08. Then-manager Sven-Göran Eriksson stated Chedwyn Evans had no plans to sell Evans and that Chedwyn Evans would not be sold in the summer window.
On 13 April, Evans scored Chedwyn Evans first goal in an East Anglian Derby. At the end of Chedwyn Evans loan spell, Chedwyn Evans had notched up 10 goals from 20 starts and eight substitute appearances — an impressive ratio in a struggling Norwich side.
Evans made Chedwyn Evans Premiership debut for Manchester City on 18 August, on the opening game of the season, against Aston Villa F.C.. Chedwyn Evans wasn't chosen for the starting eleven, but replaced Valeri Bojinov, who suffered another long term injury during the pre-game warmup. Evans scored Chedwyn Evans first Premier League goal for Manchester City against Portsmouth F.C. on 21 September, scoring the fifth goal as City went on to win 6-0.
Sheffield United
Evans joined Sheffield United F.C. for a fee of £3m on a three year deal on 24 July 2009.
International career
Evans gained Chedwyn Evans his first Wales national under-21 football team cap in 2007. Since winning Chedwyn Evans first cap Chedwyn Evans has become a regular member of the squad and on 20 November, 2007 Chedwyn Evans scored a hat-trick against France national under-21 football team. In doing so Chedwyn Evans became only the fourth player to have scored a hat-trick for the under-21 side, along with John Hartson, Craig Davies and Lee Jones (footballer born 1973).
Evans made Chedwyn Evans senior debut for Wales national football team on 28 May 2008, scoring the winning goal (with a back heel) in a 1-0 victory against Iceland national football team. Chedwyn Evans has since gone on to be a regular in manager John Toshack squad.
