Teddybear, given to him first by the Botev Plovdiv supporters. Telkiyski is a strong central/right midfielder who can play well both as an attacking central midfielder and right winger. Mecho started his career in Botev and he soon became one of the best midfielders in the country, attracting the attention of Levski Sofia. He joined Levski in 2000 and won three consecutive titles. However, at this time he was used mainly as a substitute. He became a first team regular in 2003. In 2006, he was among the most influential players for Levski in their success in the UEFA Cup. In May 2006, Telkiyski won the Bulgarian championship with Levski for the fourth time.

2008
On 03 January 2008 PFC Levski and Hapoel Tel Aviv F.C have agreed on the transfers of Elin Topuzakov and Dimitar Telkiyski. The two players are going to Israel to pass medical examinations and to negotiate the conditions of their contracts with Hapoel. They sign their official contacts with Haopel on 07 January 2007. Telkiyski chose to play with kit number 31. Both Topuzakov and Telkiyski made their debut for Hapoel Tel Aviv F.C on 12 January 2008 against Hapoel Kfar Saba. Hapoel Tel Aviv lost the match in 1:2 result. He score his first goal for Hapoel against Maccabi Herzliya F.C.. The match end in 3:2 result with a win for Hapoel Tel Aviv.
On February 17, 2008, Telkiyski scored an amazing goal on the Tel-Aviv great Derbi game against Maccabi Tel-Aviv, which resulted 3:1 win to Hapoel. Telkiyski's best goal so far has been against rival & leading team in ligat ha'al beitar jerusalem when he brilliantly chipped the ball over the goalkeeper, Kale.
