Valentin Iliev (born August 11, 1980) is a Football (soccer) currently playing for Terek Grozny.
Background
Iliev's father was goalkeeper for Bulgaria's national team.
Valentin's biggest career moment was scoring a goal which got CSKA Sofia a historic win over Liverpool in 2005. However it did not help them qualify for the UEFA Champions League group phase.
Career
Iliev started his career at his home town Vratsa, where he played for the local team Botev Vratsa. In June 2001 he signed with Ukrainian club FC Metalurh Zaporizhzhya from Zaporizhzhya. But for 3 years Valentin participated in only 21 matches and scored 1 goal. In November 2004 Iliev joined CSKA Sofia. For 6 months he was captain of the team and in 2005 Iliev played his first match for the Bulgaria national football team.
In 2008 Iliev moved to Russian First division team Terek Grozny for a fee of app. 500 000 Euro.
