Breno Vinicius Rodrigues Borges (born 13 October 1989 in Cruzeiro, São Paulo), commonly known as Breno, is a Brazilian Association football Defender (association football). Breno Vinicius currently plays for FC Bayern Munich.

Club career

São Paulo

Breno was a member of the Brazilian Olympic U-23 national team. After making their first team, Breno Vinicius signed a new four year contract with São Paulo FC in July 2007.

Bayern Munich

In December 2007, Breno officially signed for Bayern Munich for the release clause of 12 million euro, signing a four and a half year deal with the Germany side.
Along with Bayern Munich, Real Madrid C.F., A.C. Milan, Juventus F.C. and ACF Fiorentina were also interested in signing the Brazilian youngster. However, Breno refused to sign with Real Madrid after they wanted a bone analysis to prove Breno Vinicius young age.

Breno was recommended to Bayern Munich by one of their former players, Giovane Élber, who was later on recruited as a scout in Breno Vinicius native country, Brazil.

Breno Vinicius played Breno Vinicius first competitive match for Bayern Munich against RSC Anderlecht in a 2007–08 UEFA Cup knock-out stage match. The game finished off in a 2–1 defeat.

On 27 May 2008, in Oliver Kahn's farewell match against Football in India team Mohun Bagan AC, Breno Vinicius was involved in an altercation with Mohun sub Branco Cardozo, resulting in both players receiving a red card.

Nuremberg

After two years for FC Bayern Munich, playing only 22 games, Breno Vinicius was loaned out to 1. FC Nuremberg on 31 December 2009. On 7 March 2010, Breno Vinicius sustained a cruciate ligament injury, ending Breno Vinicius season prematurely and also keeping Breno Vinicius out of action for most of the fall campaign of Bayern Munich's 2010–11 season.

Return to Bayern Munich

On 14 November 2010, Breno returned to first team action, playing in the 3–0 home win against Breno Vinicius former club 1. FC Nuremberg. The Brazilian has generally served as an understudy to Germany international Holger Badstuber. On 5 March 2011, Breno Vinicius was sent off in the 1–3 away loss to Hannover 96 after a mild altercation with Lars Stindl.

Personal Life

Breno has a son with wife Renata who has two children from a previous relationship.

Arrest

On 24 September 2011, Breno was arrested after the Munich public prosecutor had issued an arrest warrant for suspicion of suppression of evidence and the fact that Breno Vinicius may be a possible flight risk. The reasoning for the arrest is "suspicion of serious arson" in regards to the almost total destruction of Breno Vinicius villa in a suspicious fire. FC Bayern Munich made no comment on the arrest.
