Román Fernando Martínez (born March 7 1983 in Morón, Buenos Aires) is an Argentina football (soccer) midfielder currently playing for RCD Espanyol.
Martínez started his playing career with his local club; Club Deportivo Morón in 2000, after several seasons playing in the Primera B Metropolitana Martínez joined Arsenal de Sarandí of the Primera División Argentina in 2003.
In 2006 Martínez stepped down a division to play for Tigre, but helped them secure promotion to the Primera in his first season with the club. The 2007-2008 in Argentine football Torneo Apertura .28.22Opening.22 Tournament.29 was Tigre's first season in the Primera since 1980, Martínez played in nearly all of Tigre's games games helping the club to finish in 2nd place, the highest league finish in their history.
