Joel Huiqui

Joel Adrián Huiqui Andrade (born on February 18, 1983 in Los Mochis Sinaloa, Mexico) is an Indigenous Mexican football player currently playing as a defender for Mexican team Cruz Azul in the Primera División de México.

Joel Huiqui started his career in Cruz Azul Hidalgo in the Primera Division 'A' which is the youth team of Cruz Azul, but debuted with CF Pachuca as a loan from Cruz Azul who didn't debute him. He debuted in a game over CF Querétaro in a 0-0 tie in the 2003 Apertura. Playing two tournamets with Pachuca in a total of 38 games, he was later given back to Cruz Azul, where he earned a starting eleven position in 2004, and currently the vice-captain of the team. Huiqui played in Mexico minor U-23 and for the senior Mexico national football team, in the qualification for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, as well as the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup, where Mexico placed 4th. At the final team, Argentine coach Ricardo La Volpe left Huiqui out of the 23 players who went to the 2006 World Cup.
