Rodrigo Ribeiro Souto

Rodrigo Ribeiro Souto, otherwise known as Rodrigo Souto (born September 9, 1983 in Rio de Janeiro, RJ) is a Brazilian Football (soccer) positions Central Midfielder. He currently plays for Santos Futebol Clube.

Playing career

A product of São Cristóvão de Futebol e Regatas youth, such as Brazilian superstar foward Ronaldo, Rodrigo earned a transfer to Clube de Regatas Vasco da Gama with only 17 years old. He built his career in Vasco, inicially playing as a defensive Midfielder. However, the team back then played many players in that positions on the lineup, and so Rodrigo was able to show his attacking skills. He then begun to be deployed as a right attacking midfielder.

In such position, he made a move to Clube Atlético Paranaense. Although he conquered Campeonato Paranaense in 2005, he did not established himself as a regular and, after six months, switched clubs again, this time to Figueirense Futebol Clube. He there again won the Campeonato Catarinense and again was deployed as a defensive midfielder, and even right-back or sweeper in emergencies.

His good displays at Figueirense on 2006 earned him a transfer to Santos Futebol Clube where he makes a solid pair with Chilean international Claudio Maldonado. He was once again Campeonato Paulista champion, with a really high grade on the final game.
