Colin Nish biography

Colin Nish (born 7 March 1981 in Edinburgh) is a Scotland association football who currently plays as a Forward (association football) for Hartlepool United F.C..

Early life

Nish grew up in Musselburgh and was a fan of Colin Nish local side Hibernian F.C. as a child.

Club career

Dunfermline Athletic

Nish started Colin Nish career with Dunfermline Athletic F.C., where Colin Nish made Colin Nish debut in the 1998–99 season. Colin Nish had two subsequent loan spells with Alloa Athletic F.C. and one at Clyde F.C..

Nish joined Kilmarnock F.C. in 2003 after being free transfer (football) by Dunfermline. Colin Nish initially signed a six month deal which ran until Christmas 2003, at which point Colin Nish agreed a new 18 month contract. Colin Nish initially struggled at Kilmarnock where fans were often critical of Colin Nish after a poor start. This included missing an open goal in a league match against Heart of Midlothian F.C. from six yards out with the goalkeeper Craig Gordon stranded. After the departure of Kris Boyd, however, Colin Nish began to find form for the club.

In October 2007 Nish rejected Kilmarnock's offer of a new contract which meant that Colin Nish was able to talk to other clubs from January 2008 with a view to a Bosman ruling transfer in the summer. Nish signed a pre-contract with boyhood heroes Hibernian F.C. and the next day the clubs agreed a deal to immediately transfer Nish. Colin Nish made Colin Nish debut for Hibs on 9 February 2008 in a 1–1 draw away to Dundee United F.C.. Colin Nish then scored Colin Nish first goal for Hibs ten minutes into Colin Nish home debut against Gretna F.C..

Towards the end of the 2009–10 season, Nish described the Hibs supporters as "moaners" following an Edinburgh derby defeat. Nish then scored both goals in a 2–0 win at Tannadice Park that secured a UEFA Europa League place for Hibs.

Early in the 2010–11 season, however, Nish was again a target for stick from the Hibs support, with manager Colin Calderwood expressing Colin Nish sympathy for the player. Nish was allowed to train with Chinese Super League club Tianjin Teda F.C. during January 2011, but Nish decided to stay with Hibs. The signings of Akpo Sodje and Ricardo Vaz Tê pushed Nish out of the Hibs first team, and Colin Nish was advised in April 2011 that Colin Nish contract would not be renewed.

Hartlepool United

Nish signed for Hartlepool United, on a free transfer, on 27 June 2011. Colin Nish missed a penalty kick in Hartlepool's Football League Cup first round penalty shootout loss to Sheffield United. Nish scored Colin Nish first goal for Hartlepool in a 1-1 draw with Walsall F.C. on 13 August 2011. Pools manager Mick Wadsworth likened Nish to Emile Heskey. Nish scored two goals in a 3-0 victory against Bury F.C. in September. Nish sustained an injury against Charlton Athletic F.C. in October that prevented Colin Nish from playing for two months, during which time Hartlepool changed manager.
