Steve Lovell biography

Stephen William Henry "Steve" Lovell (born December 6, 1980 in Amersham, Buckinghamshire) is an England Association football striker, who currently plays for Falkirk F.C. after signing a one year deal with an option of another year. His brother Eddie Howe is also a professional footballer.

Lovell, sometimes known affectionately to fans as 'The Shovel', started his career in 1998 when he joined A.F.C. Bournemouth. He then signed for Portsmouth F.C., and went on loan to Exeter City F.C., Sheffield United F.C. and Queens Park Rangers F.C. before signing for Scottish Premier League club Dundee F.C. in the summer of 2002. He spent three seasons at Dens Park, scoring 35 goals in 98 competitive appearances.

In the summer of 2005, following Dundee's relegation from the Scottish Premier League, Lovell signed for Aberdeen F.C.. He made his debut against Kilmarnock F.C. on August 8 2005; his first goal came against rivals Rangers F.C. and he went on to score a further nine that season.

Lovell formed the habit of scoring late goals for Aberdeen, becoming something of a "David Fairclough". These late goals included two in separate matches against Inverness Caledonian Thistle F.C., which maintained Aberdeen's unbeaten record against that opponent. Lovell also scored a consolation goal in the second leg of Aberdeen's UEFA Cup 2007-08 match against FC Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena.

On April 15 2008, he was told by Jimmy Calderwood that he would not be offered a new contract by Aberdeen and would be free to leave in the summer. It was reported on July 18 that Hibernian F.C., Kilmarnock F.C. and Falkirk F.C. were all interested in signing him.. It is also rumoured that Caley Thistle are interested in signing Lovell.

Lovell has recently become Engagement to singer/songwriter Amy Macdonald (singer).

On the 6 August,2008 it was confirmed Steve Lovell had signed for Falkirk F.C on a one-year deal with the option of a further one.

He scored his first goal for Falkirk F.C. against Queen of the South F.C. in a superb solo run after a long kick by keeper Robert Olejnik to seal the win in the CIS Cup.

He scored his first goal in the league against Hamilton Academical F.C. the following Saturday in the 44th minute of the game.
