Ola Toivonen biography
Ola Toivonen (born July 3, 1986 in Degerfors, Sweden with Finland parentage) plays primary as a Midfielder (football), or secondary as a striker. He currently plays for Malmö FF in the Allsvenskan.
Career
He started his career for Degerfors IF, where there he was heavily involved in their campaign in 2005 when they avoided relegation from Superettan.
He was then bought by Örgryte IS, and their manager Zoran Lukic. That season ended sadly, as Lukic was sacked, and Örgryte finsished last in Allsvenskan, and thus relegated to Superettan. However Toivonen was praised for his efforts in midfield and soon signed a deal with Malmö FF in a transfer worth more than $1.1m. He became Malmö's second expensive all time player (only Brazilian international Afonso Alves's transfer were more expensive, as Malmö bought him from the same club for $1.3m in 2004). Toivonen's Malmö career has started in style, and he also made his debut as full international.
International career
On 21 August, 2007, he scored a hat trick (including 2 penalties) for Sweden national under-21 football team against Wales national under-21 football team in a 4-3 friendly defeat.
Toivonen's full international debut came on the 14 January, 2007, where Sweden national football team lost 2-0 away to Venezuela national football team.
