Mattias Bjärsmyr (born 3 January, 1986 in Hestra near Gislaved) is a Sweden football (soccer) defender (football). He goes by the nickname "Bjärsa".

Mattias Bjärsmyr (born 3 January, 1986 in Hestra near Gislaved) is a Sweden football (soccer) defender (football). He goes by the nickname "Bjärsa".
After playing for a local club, Grimsås IF, and Husqvarna FF, he joined IFK Göteborg in 2005.
Bjärsmyr made his first apperance for IFK Göteborg on May 30, 2005 as the club took on IF Elfsborg. He became a regular starter later in the year and was nominated for the best newcommer at the Swedish national football gala. He made his debute for the senior Sweden national football team national senior squad January 13 against Costa Rica.
Bjärsmyr has served as the captain for Sweden national under-21 football team team.[ ] [ ]
In August 2008 rumors surfaced linking him with a move to Scottish club Rangers. [ ]
