About JS Kabylie

Jeunesse Sportive de Kabylie (Tamazight: Ilemẓiyen Inaddalen n Leqbayel), (Arabic language: شبيبة القبائل) known as JS Kabylie or JSK (transliteration ⵊⵙⴽ in Tifinagh), is an Algerian professional association football club based in Tizi Ouzou. It draws its support from Kabyle people football fans even outside the city of Tizi Ouzou. It was previously called JS Kawkabi (1974–77) and JE Tizi-Ouzou (1977–89). It is one of the richest and most successful clubs in Africa. Their current budget is approximately 2,500,000 euros. Their home stadium is Stade 1er Novembre (Tizi Ouzou).

History

The club was founded in 1928 by Sidi Saïd Hanafi under the name of RC Tizi-Ouzou, but the project stalled because of colonial laws in force in Algeria. Sidi Said Hanafi relaunched the project in the early 1940's and applied to join the French Football Federation.
However, his death resulted in the suspension of the proceedings. The project was then taken up by a group of players from the Olympique de Tizi-Ouzou.
