Le Mans UC72 is a France football (soccer) club, based in Le Mans. It was founded in 1985,as a merger between Union Sportive du Mans (USM) and Stade Olympique du Maine (SOM).
History
The football section of Union Sportive du Mans was founded in 1903.
Yves Bertucci succeeds Rudi Garcia, as manager of the MUC 72 in June 2008. Le Mans gained its first historical promotion to Ligue 1 for the 2003-04 season, but was quickly relegated. However, they fought back and in 2005 won another promotion. Since then they have no problems with retaining their top flight place. After finishing 11th and 12th in 2006 and 2007, respectively, they finished 9th in 2008, the best result in club history. They play their home games in Stade Omnisports Léon Bollée.

Historical information
Le Mans Sports Club were founded in 1900, but it wasn't until 1908 that a football (soccer) club existed within it. In 1910, Le Mans qualified for the Championnat de la France in 1910 but are heavily overturned by Saint-Servan. Gaining a huge reputation up to World War I, they plunged into obscurity by World War II before joining the league in 1942.
Le Mans UC72 exist thanks to a merge between l'Union Sportive du Mans and Stade Olympique du Maine on June 12, 1985. It was at this time that their coach, Christian Gourcuff, joined as a scout.
